Floral Spring Cake

This cake was made as a practice cake for my sister's wedding. I was still pretty new to the cake-making thing, so I needed to make sure I could do it before the actual wedding.

Rainbow Cheesecake

I am very proud of myself for two reasons: I made an entire cheesecake from scratch and I made it into a rainbow. It was beautiful! I made it for my sister-in-law's tie-dye themed birthday party, and it was super delicious and colorful!

Cake appliques

On occasion I have made frosting appliques to add onto a regular sheetcake, and here is how one has turned out:
My son and nephew were both very into (still are, somewhat) Mario and Luigi...

Arrrrr you ready for treasure cake?

Yes, I'm a nerd. That's okay, because this cake is overflowing with delicious "treasures". I made this cake and the cupcakes for my son's second birthday. It was a pirate theme, obviously, so I made a treasure chest cake and out to sea cupcakes. It was a big hit and surprisingly easy to make as well.

Simply Lilies Wedding Cake

My baby sister asked me to make her wedding cake, and I'm so glad I did. All three layers were white cake with blackberry filling. It had vanilla buttercream frosting. The happy couple loved it!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cake

I made this cake for a boy scout cake competition/auction. I made a white cake with mini chocolate chips, edible cookie dough balls in the center. The frosting was a brown sugar frosting, which also tasted like cookie dough. I then put real chocolate chip cookies around the cake with crushed chocolate bits sprinkled around the edges. Chocolate chip cookie overload! Deliciousness!

Blue & White Birthday "Crunch" Cake

I love making cakes for my boys. My son requested a "vanilla" cake for his birthday, so I made a white cake with crushed oreos and frosting in the middle, and did a little bit of piping with blue buttercream. Cute, simple and delicious!

Giant Birthday Cookie

Now, I know this is a cake blog, but I think this is an important thing: cookies! Giant cookies, to be exact. I made a giant cookie for my son's 8th birthday and decorated the top. Some people put frosting on top, but I once again, like to keep things simple, so I just melted some chocolate and drizzled it over the top and added m&m's. Delicious!

Country Western Wedding Cake

I was asked last summer to make a wedding cake with a country western theme. I had a lot of fun planning this gorgeous cake! Each layer was a different type of cake with a different type of filling. The bottom was a white cake with my special blackberry filling. The middle was a marble cake with a vanilla cream filling. The top layer was chocolate with raspberry filling. As per my usual preference, I used vanilla buttercream to frost the cake. In my opinion, while buttercream doesn't usually get super extra smooth, it tastes infinitely better than fondant, and I feel that taste is most important for my cakes.

The fencing adds that country feel without overpowering the cake.

A touch of beauty...

Me and the cake :)

Simply Elegant

This cake is simple, yet beautiful. I kept it small and didn't embellish too much because I wanted it to be elegant and tasteful, but not too decorated.

Music Sheetcake

I am part of this amazing choir, the Minnesota Mormon Chorale (here's a link to our website:www.mnmormonchorale.org ) We have several choir parties throughout the season to develop relationships between choir members, and I usually don't do anything fancy or time-consuming when I'm making something to contribute to the party food, but this time I wanted to put my piping skills to work. I made a white cake with a mint-buttercream frosting...soooo delicious, by the way!

Lego Cake

I created this Lego cake for my nephew's birthday. The frosting is a cherry-buttercream mixture with green food coloring. I used oreos to make the top of the lego.

Chic Vintage Cake

I was asked by some ladies from my church to make a vintage cake for a dinner we were having one evening. Of course, I went a little overboard, but I am very happy with the results :)
This cake was made with a bottom layer of chocolate cake, a top layer of white cake and my special raspberry/blackberry filling for in-between layers. I used a basic buttercream frosting to cover the cake and used gum paste for the roses and fondant for the ribbons.

Here is a close-up of the ribbons...I am very proud of these :)
